Search and Rescue
My son and I saw the movie World Trade Center directed by Oliver Stone. I was impressed with how hard rescue workers searched for people trapped in the rubble. It reminded me of another search and rescue mission. At a certain point I realized I was trapped in the rubble of sin. Like those three trapped men in the movie I could not get out. Then a friend told me that God came to earth on a search and rescue mission. The following points summarize God's mission.

1. Only trapped people need someone to RESCUE them.

Isaiah 59:2--"But your evil attitudes and actions have made a separation between you and your God, And your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He does not hear."

Romans 3:23--"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."

Luke 5:31-32--"And Jesus answered and said to them, "It is not those are well who need a physician, but those who are sick. I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.

2. Jesus came from heaven to earth on a SEARCH and RESCUE mission.

Luke 19:10--"For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost."

1 Peter 3:18--"For Christ also died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, in order that He might bring us to God."

3. Those people who BELIEVE IN JESUS are rescued from sin and death.

John 1:12--"But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name."

John 3:16--"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life."

4. Once we believe in Jesus our partnership grows as we OBEY and FOLLOW our Leader.

John 8:12--"Again therefore Jesus spoke to them, saying, "I am the light of the world; he who follows Me shall not walk in the darkness, but shall have the light of life."

Matthew 16:24--"Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone wishes to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me."
